Mangaluru, Aug 6: The sapling distribution programme, a remarkable initiative dedicated to the save earth project, was held at St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized by the Department of Psychology, NSS Units & ATC in collaboration with Udayavani. The event, a celebration of the institution's commitment to environmental preservation, witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities, including  Naveen D'Souza, P Sridhar, Madhava D Ullal, Naveen D Padil, and Venu Vinod.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by Avanish Nayak, setting a serene tone for the event. Samhita MP extended a warm welcome to the attendees, followed by an insightful inaugural address by Venu Vinod, chief reporter of Udayavani. His words resonated with the audience, preparing them for the enlightening discussions that lay ahead.

 

Naveen D'Souza, corporator, articulated the pivotal role initiatives like the save earth project play in forging a sustainable future. P Sridhar, IFS assistant conservator of forest, delivered an illuminating discourse on the significance of conserving natural resources, enriching the audience's understanding.

Naveen D Padil, a renowned cine artist, added a creative dimension to the gathering with his thought-provoking speech. The focal point of the event was the distribution of 103 saplings, symbolizing the institution's enduring dedication to the save earth project. Each sapling represented a commitment to a greener, healthier planet, underlining the collective responsibility and spirit of positive change.

The esteemed chief guest and dignitaries graciously participated in the sapling distribution, inspiring students and emphasizing the power of collective effort. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Tenisha, expressing gratitude for everyone's involvement.

Principal Sr Dr M Venissa AC, Dr Shailaja HG (Convener ATC), Dr Udaykumar, Dr Meera (NSS Program Officers), Vinatha K (HOD of Psychology) were among the dignitaries present on the dais.The programme was compered by Privy D’Souza.

The programme culminated with a united rendition of the national anthem, reflecting patriotism and respect for the nation. All attendees were then invited to the botanical garden for the symbolic planting of the saplings, solidifying their commitment to the save earth project. The event was commemorated with a group photograph capturing the essence of unity and togetherness, marking a significant chapter in the institution's journey towards a sustainable future.
