Mangauru: Guest Lecture on 'Breastfeeding Awareness' held at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Aug 3: Department of Microbiology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore, in collaboration with Inner wheel club of Mangalore North, in view of world breastfeeding week organised a guest lecture on the topic "Breastfeeding Awareness" on 3 August 2023. Mrs. Mitra Prabhu was the resource person of the day.

The session began with a meaningful prayer led by Calvina and team. Mitra Prabhu, Dietician and Nutritionist, Zulekha College of Nursing, Mangalore; Geetha Rai, president; Dr Bharathi Prakash, secretary and Aruna Jalan, ISO, Inner wheel club of Manglore North; Prajwal Rao,HOD, Dept of Microbiology, were present on the dias. Rifha from final year B.Sc. welcomed the gathering.

Mithra Prabhu, enlightened the students on the importance of a well balanced diet, components of mother's milk and the value of mother's milk in the development of immunity. She highlighted a few facts about working women which gave meaningful insights to the students.

It was an educative and informative session. Around 200 students from various streams, faculty members and a few members from Inner wheel club participated in this session.

Prajwal Rao, HOD, Department of Microbiology presented a memento as a token of love and appreciation to the resource person and Khushi from third BSc rendered vote of thanks.

Venisha Pinto, third year BSc student compered the programme.

Final year Microbiology Students - Tanvi, Hafsah, Boomika, Apoorva, Natasha and Krithi were the volunteers for the programme.
