Mangaluru: Women’s cell inaugurated at Milagres Pre-University College

Mangaluru, Jun 16: The inauguration of Women’s Cell of Milagres PU College Hampankatta was held on Tuesday June 13 in the College auditorium. All the girls of the college actively took part in the programme.

Beulah Rego, a senior teacher at Milagres High School was the chief guest. The programme was presided by Melwin Vas, the principal of Milagres PU College.

The coordinators Cheryl Benedicta Dsouza and Sr Maxi Borges, the president of the women’s cell Khathija Jaseena and secretary Fatima Shifa were also present on the dais.

The chief guest Beulah Rego, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. In the inaugural address, she said, "Women’s cell acts as a catalyst in ensuring women’s empowerment and women’s safety on the campus of any institution. The main aim of the Women’s Cell is to help girl students to understand the role of women in constructing a healthy society. Different activities organized by the Women’s Cell help the students to strengthen their self-confidence, nurture their skills in decision-making, and to widen their perspectives on issues related to gender."

Concluding her speech she said, 'Arise, Awake and Achieve' should be the slogan of women’s cell.

Principal Melwin Vas, said in his message that the Women Cell of Milagres PU College should strive to empower girl students by imparting awareness of Women’s rights and duties.

Interesting and fun-filled games were conducted for all girls. The programme was compered by Mushina from II HEBA. Zulfa, from II CEBA welcomed the gathering, and Shahdiya, from I CEBA proposed the vote of thanks.
