Mangaluru, Jun 8: The Ninth day of Tredicina devotion preceding the annual feast of St Anthony of Padua was held on June 8, at St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church, Mangaluru. Fr Joswin Praveen Dsouza, professor, St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu celebrated the Eucharistic and prayed for the devotees of St Anthony of Padua along with Fr J B Crasta and Fr Avinash Pais, St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu.

Fr Joswin preached on the theme, 'Called to become the Instruments of the Word of God'. Fr Joswin said, “Total surrendering of the self to God and becoming one with him is essential to be the instruments of the Word of God.” He further said that the amount of time we spend in reading and listening to the Word of God becomes fruitful only when we exemplify the spirit of the Word of God in our life.

At the end of the mass, Fr Avinash Pais, assistant director of the Ashram led the novena in honour of St Anthony, during which the special intercession of the session was sought for the various needs and prayer intentions of the devotees. Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel (AC) led the choir and joined in the thanksgiving. Payasam (sweet dish) was served to all the devotees who attended the devotion.
