Mangaluru, Jun 3: St Aloysius Institute of Education, Mangaluru, a leading college of teacher education of the city conducted its fifteenth graduation day. The ceremony started with the academic procession which included dignitaries namely, the chief guest, Dr Raju Krishna Chalannavar, registrar (evaluation), Mangalore University, Fr Praveen Martis SJ, director, Dr Farita Viegas, principal, Delna Lobo, vice principal and convenor, faculty and the graduating students who marched into the auditorium following the rhythms of college band. The principal welcomed all the dignitaries, parents, faculty and graduands.
The president of the ceremony Fr Praveen Martis SJ, declared the graduation day 2023 open and in his presidential address he congratulated the graduands and said, “As graduates, you have made yourself proud by your hardwork. The College has facilitated for the holistic growth of the students by providing different learning experiences. It has also helped the students to seek knowledge, inculcate qualities and values. You are all transformed from a student’s life to a teacher’s life, and you will transform the younger ones at your school entrusted to your care. The knowledge and skills you have acquired at St Aloysius B. Ed College through a variety of academic programmes and outreach activities would help you dedicate yourselves to the profession and make a difference in the lives of your students. As a teacher, love your profession and your subjects, and that will help you to impart knowledge in the right manner to your students. No matter where you are; always remember the core values of Jesuit Education to reform yourselves and form your students at your best.”
The chief guest, honourable Raju Krishna Chalannavar, in the graduation address said, “Graduation is an event where the academic journey stops and begins another journey into the real world, that is, beyond classrooms and routine works. This is where the graduates commence the exciting process of transforming their dreams into reality. Your journey will take you into unknown territory and on unchartered paths. While you cannot prepare for every single thing, you should know that success is guaranteed in the long run if you hold true to your values, and continually learn from experiences. No pain, no gain; and you should continue to challenge yourselves to achieve your best potential. You need to love what you do and you can achieve anything if you set a goals to your life. Life is eventually what you make of it. Institutions like St Aloysius BEd College are required for the significant development in education in a nation like India, which always strives to empower the marginalized and vulnerable groups of society. On its fifteenth graduation ceremony, it is evident that St Aloysius BEd College has played a significant role in forming its student-teachers into professionals who would adjust and work as required by the schools.”
The principal presented a brief report of the academic activities conducted during the year 2020-22. Delna Lobo, convenor, introduced the chief guest. Outgoing student council president Sr Eulalia Maria Lobo BS, delivered a valedictorian speech on behalf of her companions. Fr Praveen Martis SJ, president of the programme, honored the toppers of the batch 2020-22, Preemal Maria D Almeida and Sr Eulalia Maria Lobo BS with prizes. The outgoing student council president handed over the college flag to the newly elected president Preethi Pais, which symbolized the handing over of the responsibilities.
Venessa Pais and Sudheer Tony D’Souza (second year BEd), eloquently compered the programme. Delna Lobo, vice principal and convenor, organised the programme.
