Bengaluru, Jun 1: Leading Electronics major, Foxconn Technology Group will commence its production of Iphones at its unit in Devanahalli by April next year, Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil announced in Bengaluru on Thursday.
The minister, who received a high level delegation led by FoxconnGroup’s George Chu, said the State Government will be handing over 300 acres of land required for the company near Devanahalli by July.
The Unit has a total investment of Rs 13,600 crore and when completed is expected to provide employment opportunities to 50,000 persons.
IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge was also present during the meeting.
Patil said about 300 acres of land has been identified in the Devanahalli Industrial Area. The government is committed to supply the necessary water, power and also provide necessary road connectivity, he said.
The Taiwan-based Foxconncompany, which is part of the Hon Hai Precision Industry Group, is planning to produce Iphones in three phases.
The company has already made a payment of Rs 90 crore, which 30% of the cost of land, to Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
Top company executives Paul Liu, Tonny Liu, Simon Song and Bharat Dundi were part of the delegation.
Earlier, Executive Vice President of Jubiliant Food Works Ltd AmardeepsinghAhulwali, FICCI State President K Ullas Kamath, CII State President ShajuMangalam, Vijakrishnan and others called on the minister.
IT/BT Additional Chief Secretary E V Ramana Reddy, Commerce and Industries Department Principal Secretary Selva Kumar and Commissioner Gunjan Krishna attended the meeting.
