Mangalore, Jul 16: "Dasa Sahitya became popular and was understood by people because of its language. It reinstilled devotion with morality in society. If 'Shastra' (religious scriptures) is like rays of the sun which, though powerful, cannot be comprehended by ordinary people, Dasa Sahitya is like 'moon light' which reaches every section of the society," noted Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt.
He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the two-day ‘Dasa Sahithya Sammelana’ held in Town Hall on Friday July 15.
He further said that when the flow of philosophical knowledge was ‘blocked’ in ‘Shastra’, Dasa Sahitya worked towards propogating philosophical ideas among all classes of people.
He wished more such literature-related programmes would be organised in the future.
In his valedictory address, Dr Talthaje Vasanthkumar, senior litterateur said that Dasa Sahitya disseminated values in the society. "All of us are must learn the values hidden in Dasa Sahitya," he said.
Deputy commissioner Dr Channappa Gowda noted that there was a dearth of readers of literature and said since last 15 years the district library has been facing a shortage of readers.
Former president of state Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punaroor presided. Ambathanaya Mudrady welcomed. Madhuri Shreeram compered the programme. District president of the Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura delivered the vote of thanks.
