Kundapur, May 30: “The departments of forests and revenue should conduct a joint survey to solve the confusion of deemed forests. Drinking water problems should be attended to on priority. There are hurdles from reserved forest to construct pipeline tanks under the Jal Jeevan mission project, those should be cleared. Bring problems if any to my notice,” said Kundapur MLA Kiran Kumdar Kodgi. He was speaking in a meeting with department officials of Kundapur block held at Kundapur taluk panchayat office.

Kundapur tahsildar Shobhalaxmi said that suitable measures are taken up as precautions for the monsoon. “The telephone numbers of taluk level officers are conveyed to the public. 354 applications are pending under form No. 53, 302 applications under 94C and 26 applications under 944CC are pending in Kundapur constituency,” she said.

“There are drinking water issues at Devastana Bettu and Gulladi. Water is being supplied to 100 houses through tankers. Ground water level has decreased. The problems faced to lay a pipeline to supply water to ten families at Madamakki are solved. 30 houses at Chakar Makki are facing drinking water woes. Though there is a pipeline at JJM there is no source of water. Water is being supplied to 75 houses at Hengavalli through tankers. Rs 28 lacs are paid for electric lines. Though money can be saved if electricity is supplied through cables, it is difficult to obtain a refund of the amount paid already,” said officials.

The block education officer said that there is no problem with drinking water in schools. KSRTC official said that the bus runs from Maranakatte to Shankernarayana via Krodrabailur. “It will be convenient for students arriving at Shankaranarayana from Nempu,” he said.

“There are 140 Anganwadis in Kundapur. 114 out of them function from their own buildings. The Molahalli Mastikatte Anganwadi is at a rented place as there are deemed forest problems there,” said supervisor of the department of women and children.

“It is intended to grow paddy in 4150 hectares of land in Kundapur. 250 quintals MO 4 seeds are stored,” said Roopa Mada.

Yathish, taluk panchayat officials of Kundapur, Hebri and Brahmavar were present.

“There should have been 52 positions in the Kundapur taluk office but only 24 people are employed. 19 of them are assigned outside work. At least three people are required now,” said the tahsildar.

“There are eleven hospitals of the department of animal husbandry in Kundapur.

There are only three doctors in them. The positions of attenders are vacant in them,” said Dr Babanna Poojary.

“The government works performed at taluk level are not known to people. There is less coordination between the officers and the media,” said media representatives.
