NEW DELHI (SAR NEWS), Jul 15: -- The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI), the apex body of the Catholic Church in India, has condemned the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, July 13, which killed 21 and injured more than 130.
In a statement, July 14, the prelates expressed their deep anguish at the dastardly act. “We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families that have lost their near and dear ones. And we remember those who have been injured in these blasts and are being treated at various hospitals of Mumbai. May God grant them courage to face the pain and suffering and bless them with speedy recovery,” the statement said.
They further said that violence had never been an enduring solution to any problem in society, and those indulging in it contribute nothing but misery to their fellow human beings.
"Mumbai, unfortunately, has again been a victim of mindless violence at the hands of awfully misguided elements and this must be fought with all resolve on our side. And we believe that it is a time when the whole country needs to be united to take on terrorism with utmost firmness. United in the spirit of brotherhood, we will be able to overcome the powers that seek to destabilize our country," the bishops said.
They appealed to the government to do all within its powers to deal firmly with those lawless elements behind the heinous crime. "We also appeal to all sections of society to work together to thwart the nefarious designs of criminal groups and organisations that have caused much damage to the social peace and amity."
