Chennai, Jul 13: South Indian actress Ranjitha, filed a complaint with the police on Tuesday July 12 alleging that her pictures showing her with Swamy Nithyananda were morphed.
The actress is seen in a very compromising position with the Swamy in the pictures.
Ranjitha also complained that she was blackmailed by some persons who demanded a large sum of money from her.
City police commissioner JK Tripathy said that the case has been referred to the central crime branch (CCB) of the city police.
The Nithyananda Ashram lodged a complaint at the police station last week accusing Sun Network of morphing and telecasting visuals showing Nithyananda in a compromising position with the actress in March last year.
They claimed that the footage was a ‘conspiracy’ to malign the Swamy’s reputation and alleged that the ashram inmates were subjected to physical attacks in various places after the video footage was aired.
Nithyananda, who also faced criminal charges including rape, was arrested from Himachal Pradesh after remaining elusive for several weeks.
