Mangaluru, May 8: Congress MLC Manjunath Bhandary said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are visiting the state several times due to fear of losing elections.
Addressing journalists at a news conference in Congress Bhavan on Monday, May 8, he said even BJP national president JP Nadda has threatened voters that if the Congress comes to power, schemes, and projects of the union government will be stopped.
“It is not fair to threaten the voters in a democratic nation. The development of the Karnataka state depends upon its own revenue. We don't want a double-engine government. In the year 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had alleged that the Congress government was a 10% commission government. In a recent election campaign he alleged that Congress was involved in 85% commission. How is this possible?”, Bhandary questioned.
He said, “Instead of speaking about the common man's problem, Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah are speaking about the Congress hurting religious sentiments. Yes, we are in reverse gear not for the development of the state but to contain price rise and unemployment.”
MLC Manjunath Bhandary clarified that, “After holding discussions with economic experts the Congress party came forward with the guarantee card schemes in the party’s manifesto to the people of the state. Once Congress comes to power we will fulfill all the promises made to the people.”
DCC president and MLC Harish Kumar said the party will win all the eight constituencies in Dakshina Kannada in the forthcoming elections. “Prime Minister is touring the state several times but he did not visit the state when it was affected by floods. He is speaking about religious matters and not addressing administrative issues,” he said.
He also said that former Congress president Sonia Gandhi had visited the state only once.
