Sullia, May 1: A suspected electrical short circuit caused a fire that gutted a grocery shop in Aramboor, Aletti village, Sullia taluk on Sunday.
The shop, owned by Divakar Master, was located opposite the Karnataka Plywoods factory, and the factory workers noticed smoke billowing out of the building. They informed the locals, and the owner, Divakar Master, who resided just behind the shop.
Upon opening the shutter, locals found that all the goods inside the shop had been burnt due to the fire. Sullia fire service personnel arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.
The fire was controlled with the help of Panchayat member Sudesh Aramboor, entrepreneur Krishna Kamath, Bangaru Bharadwaj, Hemant Kamath, factory workers, Milk society personnel, and locals. The loss is estimated to be significant.
