Mangaluru Apr 28: School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, Psy forum, sociology–economics forum and IQAC in association with Mangalore Heart Scan Foundation organized a free cardiac health camp for staff, on the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work on Friday, April 28.
Addressing the gathering, senior cardiologist Mangalore Heart Scan Foundation Dr Mukund K said, "Today, in the era of commercialization, health care has been commercialized. The growth of health care occurred due to commercialization. When we have symptoms, we tend to ignore due to fear of cost. We need to respond to the emergency. Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a condition in which the heart suddenly stops beating and other is a stoppage of blood supply to the heart and both can be prevented.
"There are two aspects in it - one is fat, cholesterol and blood clot. Covid has changed the mechanism of blood clots. Pre-existing blocks cause more heart attacks. When you have symptoms stop discussing with everyone which leads to confusion, instead discuss with parents and concerned doctors," said Dr Mukund K.
Cardiologist Mangalore Heart Scan Foundation Dr Vinayaka P, international training, fellow in ICU Dr Meghana Mukund, coordinator PSY forum Dr Sandra Lobo, coordinator SE forum Dr Kiran Prasad B, IQAC coordinator associate professor Cecilia F Goveas, president of the institution Sr Veena Sequeira and principal Dr Sophia Fernandes was also present.
