Mangaluru, Apr 5: Srinivas University, Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Mukka, organized a session on “Basic Life Support – Inheriting the Skills” for the faculties and students of Allied Health Sciences.
The programme is scheduled from April 3- 6. The session is divided into two parts including theory and hands-on training. Guests of honor for the day were Dr K Subramaniyam, hod of Cardiology Department, Srinivas Hospital and Dr Jayashree Bolar, asst registrar, Srinivas University, Dr Beena H B, dean, IAHS and prof Pavana Krishnamoorthy, dean, IAHS. The resource person for the session was Sagar Anil Patil, asst professor department of AOTT, SU – IAHS.
Session started with the inaugural ceremony with a prayer song and the lighting of the lamp. Dr K Subramaniyam, HOD of Cardiology Department, and Dr Jayashree Bolar conveyed the importance and the severity of BLS for the medical and non-medical field. The programme ended with national anthem. The session was delivered in an interactive way which included PPT presentation, CPR guidelines and CPR-based videos. During the session audience interaction with the speaker was observed.
Topics such as CPR, choking, Hemlicks manuever, and practical demonstration of BLS was carried out. Participants included BSc Respiratory Therapy, BSc Medical Lab Technician, BSc Medical Imaging Technology, BSc Perfusion Technology, and BSc Clinical Psychology numbering to 182 participants. After the session, the feedback was taken from the participants.
