Mangaluru, Mar 30: A stolen bike was found in city and three accused were arrested by the Pandeshwar police who recovered the bike on March 30.
The bike belonged to Rajesh, and it was parked near Kotekar Koragana Katte on March 28 when it was stolen. The theft was captured on CCTV, and the face of the thief was clearly visible. Another bike parked near Koragana Katte, Thokkottu Congress office, was also stolen on the same day, and its theft was also captured on CCTV. As a result, two separate bike theft cases were registered at Ullal police station.
The friend of Rajesh, who had come to Mini Vidhan Soudha at Hampankatta for some work on March 30, noticed the bike parked in front of a shop and informed the police. While he expressed suspicions and told them that the bike belonged to his friend Rajesh, two of the three youngsters fled. The accused had changed the bike's number, but failed to remove the sticker with 'Sonu' written on it. Rafik immediately informed the lady police staff of the Pandeshwar police station on the spot. The police went through the CCTV footage of the shop and arrested three suspects from Kasaba, Bengre, and Padubidri.
Rajesh and several others had offered collective prayers in front of Koragane Katte for the bike.
The thieves were caught within three days of the theft.
Bike owners have urged the police to investigate the involvement of the accused in other bike thefts that occurred within the police station limits.
