Manipal, Feb 28: Manipal Academy of Higher Education, was privileged to host proffesor Iain Martin, vice-chancellor of Deakin University, for the vice-chancellor oration, 2023. During his visit, proffesor Martin gave a compelling speech on "Impacting Global Citizenship through Internationalization of Higher Education" and discussed the importance of collaboration and knowledge exchange in the global higher education space.
MAHE Manipal and Deakin University have enjoyed a strong partnership for over two decades, with collaborations ranging from student pathway programs to research partnerships and faculty and student exchange programs. This year, MAHE is celebrating the "Year of Internationalization" to encourage students to embrace their roles as global citizens and promote global networking.
Speaking about the significance of global citizenship, proffesor Martin said, "We live in an increasingly interconnected world, and it is more important than ever for universities to prepare students to become global citizens. At Deakin University, we believe in the power of internationalization to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing global workforce."
Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, vice chancellor, MAHE, said, "Our collaboration with Deakin University has spanned over two decades, and during this time, we have achieved significant milestones together.
