Margao, Jun 12(PTI) Sporting Clube de Goa's place in the next season's I-League is assured after the newly promoted club passed the Asian Football Confederation's strict licensing criteria.
A high profile AFC delegation led by Competition Director Tokuaki Suzuki and I-League CEO Sunando Dhar who arrived in Goa yesterday expressed satisfaction over the club's infrastructure.
"Sporting Clube had submitted all of their papers prior to the Second Division I-League. We are here for physical verification," said Sunando.
"We have passed the I-League licensing criteria. The delegation inspected all our documents, spoke to our staffers, committees and were generally pleased with the set-up," stated CEO of the club Victor Fernandes.
Prior to the second division I-League, the AIFF had raised questions about Sporting Clube's failure to appoint an AFC A-licensed coach.
