Mangaluru, Feb 18: On February 17, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized ‘ORENDA-2023’ an intra-collegiate fest meticulously crafted to enkindle the innate spark of the students. The inaugural programme for the fest was held in the open-air stage of the college.
The inaugural programme began with a prayer led by the college choir association. Clarin Mathias, vice president of BCA welcomed the gathering. Dr Rashmi D Souza, Nutrition Therapist and ENT Surgeon, was the chief guest of the inaugural programme.
Dr Rashmi D’Souza addressed the gathering encouraging the students to showcase their talents, ideas and skills. Sr Dr M Venissa AC the principal addressed the students and encouraged them to move beyond academics and to use the opportunity to display their talents. The vice-presidents of all the departments briefed the students on all the events to be conducted namely Artspire, Caldera, Comquest, Horizon and Technovate. The college president, Adeline Renjal encouraged the students to Enkindle the innate spark within them. Sathvika from BSc thanked the guest and all the students present in the audience. The dean of Commerce and Business Administration, Nimitha, the dean of Science and Computer Applications, Helen, and the dean of Arts and Languages, Nagesh were also present.
The humanities and languages department organized ‘ARTSPIRE’ initiated to inspire the students to showcase their creative skills and talents. The department conducted 9 events which included Cooking without fire, Agnes wants to know (mock press), Move it (folk dance), Documentary Presentation, Picture perfect (photography), Rhythmic Gala (singing), Minute to win it (talent show), Trashion (best out of waste), Imperfection is Beauty, Madness is Genius (Mad Ad).
The department of science organized ‘CALDERA’ for the students to express their works and talents. The department conducted 10 events which included Clamalia (clay modeling), Re-boot (Wealth out of waste), Chem flair (fashion out of waste), Limit breakers (math events), Wordle (physics event), Michroma (rangoli), Posterholic (poster making), Quasar (variety entertainment), Tangroma (Food based event), Plano-Hallinto (management event).
The department of commerce organized ‘COMQUEST’ with the purpose of prepping the students to encounter the upcoming challenges in the field of commerce and to provide a platform where they are able to showcase their talents. The Department conducted 16 events which included Business Quiz, Marketing, Best Manager, Finance, Human Resource, Public Relation, Shark Tank, Mock press, Variety entertainment, Videography, Nail art, Fruit and vegetable carving, Wealth out of waste, Treasure hunt, T-shirt painting and Face painting.
The department of business administration organized ‘HORIZON’ to enhance marketing skills. The department conducted 7 events which included HR, Marketing, Quiz, Best manager, Shark tank, Logo rangoli, and Variety Programme.
The department of computer applications organized ‘TECHNOVATE’ with the aim to give students the creative freedom to be innovative and sharpen their skills. The department conducted 11 events which included the Capturrs (photography), Master the moment (reel making), Best techno maniac (best manager), Trezor (treasure hunting), One of a kind (talent show), Synergy (dance), Techohenna (logo with mehendi), Advertisement (brand launch), Dizzy pix (digital poster making), Memory management (memorize the code), Quizzard (quiz).
The students with great enthusiasm and zeal showcased their talents and ideas in all the various competitions held by the departments.
The valedictory programme was organized separately by each department and the prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions.
