Mangalore, Jun 8: Radio Mirchi 98.3 fm has always been in the news and this time on the eve of world environment day the radio station in association with NMPT planted saplings in the Panambur area and then introduced Green Cup 2011.
"Cricket has always been a uniting factor and what better after world cup, IPL, and CCL can Mangalore get, hence this Green Cup," opined Sameer Puranik the station director of Radio Mirchi.
NMPT which recieved the ISO 14001 certification for having rendered tremendous service and continuously concerned about making Mangalore more green tied up with Radio Mirchi 98.3 Fm for this cause. TSN Murthy,deputy chairman of NMPT inaugurated the event and other senior officials NMPT and the port users and wel wishers were present at the event. Mukund kamath, properitor of ideal ice creams was also present.
Harinath, engineer , NMPT facilitated the inauguartion of the event. On the day as many as 150 saplings were planted.
"Mirchi believes in entertainment and making a difference in listener's life. This was a week long campaign and 5 listeners were selected to be the part of Green Cup2011," said RJ Vishwas, the programming controller brain behind this event.
NMPT won the toss and elected to field first .Chasing a modest total of 80 in 15 overs; NMPT fell short of one Run and Mirchi lifted the Green Cup 2011 . Shobith shetty was adjudged Man of the Match
