New Delhi, Jun 8 (IANS): India's Rohan Gajjar and Ranjit Virali-Murugesan scored easy first round victories in the $10,000 ITF tournament at the DLTA complex here Tuesday.
Second-seeded Gajjar dispatched Japanese qualifier Naoki Takeda 6-2, 6-0 in searing heat to set up a clash with compatriot Vignesh Peranamallur. Vignesh defeated another Indian, Neeraj Elangovan 7-5, 6-3.
Ranjit, seeded third, thrashed compatriot Tejas Chaukulkar 6-1, 6-0. He next plays Sweden's Lucas Renard, who defeated India's Yannick Nelord 6-3, 7-5.
However, last week's finalist Divij Sharan went down fighting to sixth-seeded Patrik Rosenholm of Sweden, who had won the title. Rosenhold won 6-4, 7-6 (4) and now plays Indian wildcard Kunal Anand.
In another first round encounter, fourth-seed N. Prashanth outclassed qualifier Manpreet Singh Chawla 6-1, 6-0. He next plays compatriot Ashwin Vijayragavan, who defeated qualifier Tejesvi Rao 6-2, 7-5.
