Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery, more popularly and crudely known as Urogynecology, is a beautiful, yet misunderstood and under addressed sub-specialty. It deals with the health and disorders of the female pelvic floor which is a grave victim of physiology and pathology both. Common relevant disorders like Pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary incontinence are rampant to the point that they affect nearly half the woman population all over the world.
The Idea behind URVASHE is to bring together the believers and experts of Urogynecology within our own country and to make our army stronger by facilitating an exchange of ideas and truly aligning our goals. On the first day , academic sessions were held, that gave structure to the concept of Urogynecology and blew a lot of myths. Many common disorders were addressed. All the academicians from far and wide, interacted with the students, leaving them enriched at the end of the day.
Second day , the sessions concentrated on management of the pelvic floor disorders and advanced treatment modalities. There were case discussions and debates by residents and fellows which were moderated by Dr. Deeksha Pandey and the other visiting faculty, Many delegates from all over India participated in the conference. URVASHE 23 was overall a roaring success, and we look forward to the legacy becoming one to watch out for.
