Vijayawada, Jun 5 (PTI) Taking a cue from the IPL, the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) is set to organise the first Kabaddi Premier League here from June 8 and 16.
K P Rao, Organising Committee chairman of the event told reporters here today that the championship is aimed at reviving kabaddi and encouraging youths to take up the traditional sport.
Eight teams will participate in the championship and to be held on a synthetic ground at an indoor stadium.
Rao said 80 best players from across the country will be take part in the event with each team being franchised by a business organisation.
An amount of Rs one crore will be distributed among the players and teams, he added.
