Sullia, May 26: Dr Renuka Prasad, who is in judicial custody relating to his alleged role in the assassination of KVG Medical College administrative officer, Prof A S Ramakrishna, has been remanded to two days’ police custody with effect from May 26. The order was passed by judge C K Basavaraj on Wednesday May 25.
The policemen have been instructed not to behave violently with Dr Prasad during the police custody, and to provide him medical aid if found necessary. The court has asked Dr Prasad to be produced again in the court at the end of police custody, at 5 pm on May 27.
The order was based on the arguments placed before the court by advocate M Venkappa Gowda on behalf of the accused, and assistant prosecutor, M Uadayakumar, who represented the prosecution, on May 24.
The earlier order of Puttur court, remanding Dr Prasad to police custody on the 19th and 20th of this month, at the instance of assistant superintendent of police and investigating officer, Dr Rohini Katoch, could not be executed as the accused had got himself readmitted into the hospital for health reasons.
