Mangaluru, Dec 26: The Konaje station police waylaid and arrested four persons smuggling ganja from Bengaluru to Kerala at Chelur checkpost.
The arrested are Kasargod Bandiyod resident Mohammed Naufal (24), Malappuram Ponnani resident Jamsheer M (24), Manjeshwar Mangalpadi resident Mohammed Batish (37) and Kasargod Muttatodi resident Mohammed Ashraf (42).
They were arrested after obtaining definite information that they were transporting drugs by Alto car from Bengaluru to Kerala via Uppinangady, Melkar and Boliar road.
As much as 32,195 kg ganja worth Rs 3,19,000, Rs 13,000 worth of mobile phone used to buy and sell drugs, two travel bags and Rs 3 lac worth Alto car used to load and transport drugs altogether valued at Rs 6,32,000 are confiscated from the accused.
The operation was led by Konaje police station inspector Prakash Devadiga and executed by SI Sharanappa Bhandary, staff Shailendra, Mohammed Sharif, Mahesh, Purushotham, Deepak, Ashwin, Suresh, Ambareesh, Barama Badiger, Reshma and Sunita under guidance from assistant police commissioner Dinaker Shetty. All the accused were produced in the court.
