Mangalore, May 24: ‘Yuva Sambhram – 2011’ was organized at Holy Cross Church Kulshekhar in the city on Sunday May 22.
The programmes of the day started with a thanksgiving mass, celebrated by Fr Arun Lobo. He urged the youth to be the torch-bearers of faith and service in life.
Youth leader, Dolphy Prashanth D’Souza participated as the chief guest of the programme held at 7 pm the same evening at the Cordel Hall. He gave away the prizes to winners. The chief guest spoke about the need to have ‘role models’ in life. He urged the youngsters to join local bodies and government service, and become leaders out of their own abilities and skills. D’Souza also impressed on the need to steadfastly hold the values of faith and traditions of the Catholics high in one’s life, and make the community strong. He also congratulated the youth of Cordel parish for the services they have been rendering to humanity.
Parish priest of the church, Fr Valerian Pinto, extended his best wishes to the chief guest for success in his life as a youth leader. He thanked the youth of the parish for the services they have rendered.
After the prayer song presented by the youth, reports of ICYM, YCS, and Yuva Legion, were presented by the respective secretaries.
Along with the chief guest and the president, assistant parish priest, Fr Arun Lobo, ICYM animator, Sushil Norohna, assistant animator, Noel D’Souza, Leena Lobo, vice president of the parish council, Praveen Patrao, secretary, Goerge D’Souza, YCS animator, Melwin Fernandes, legion president, Reema Pinto, and YCS vice-president, Allan Noronha were present.
ICYM president, Prescilla Sequeira, welcomed the gathering. Tony D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
After the stage programme, dance, songs and various other cultural programmes, which showcased the talents of the youth from the parish, were presented.
