Mangalore: Watchman of Under-construction House Murdered

Mangalore, May 24: A person hired as watchman for an under-construction house at Melu Saripalla in Pedamale near here was found to have been killed on the night of Sunday May 22. His body was found lying at the site of construction on Monday morning. He has been identified as Mallappa from Haveri. He was working for a house being built by Lancelot D’Souza near the water tank in Melu Saripalla.

It is suspected that he was assaulted elsewhere, and that he would have come back after the assault before lying down. Marks of rope having been tied around his stomach are apparent, and it is believed that someone had tied and beaten him up elsewhere, before releasing him.

The policemen handed over the body of the watchman after post mortem, to his relatives. Investigation about who had committed this crime has been taken up by rural police station here. Polic sub-inspector, Prakash, has taken up investigation.
