Mangalore, May 23: The 83rd Melwyn Peris Nite, a musical extravaganza of Konkani songs by veteran singer Melwyn Peris, was held at Rukkaram Auditorium, Mulky, on Sunday May 22.
The event was held to mark the centenary celebrations of MCC Bank in aid of Mulky parish projects and parish youth.
Mulky Immaculate Conception parish priest Fr Norbert Lobo, MCC Bank vice-president Dr Edward Nazareth, main event sponsor Elias Sanctis, Mulky parish finance committee member Dr Suresh Aranha, Mulky, and parish council vice-president Joel Herald D’Souza were present on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanctis emphasized the need to develop bonds among brethren of Konkani community and the importance of MCC Bank.
Amabel Moras, Anita, Nestor Peris, Babita, and Joseph were the singers who, along with Melwyn Peris, regaled the gathering with their melodious singing.
‘Naach Sobhann’ dance troupe entertained the gathering with their variety shows while Gerry Rasquinha, Joseph Pinto, and Dolla did so with a delightful dose of humour during the intervals.
Both Melwyn Peris and Elias Sanctis were felicitated on behalf of MCC Bank during the programme.
Dr Nazareth briefed on various schemes for the customers which MCC Bank has launched during the centenary year.
The members of Mulky Mahila Mandali rendered the welcome dance. Joel Herald D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Felix Tauro proposed the vote of thanks. Leslie Rego compered the programme in his inimitable style.
