Moodbidri, May 23: On Sunday May 22, the policemen intercepted a Tata Indica car in which cattle were being transported in illegal and violent manner. They released four bullocks and three cows, which were found to have been bundled into the car in a inhuman way, from their ordeal.
A group of policemen led by local sub-inspector of police, Ramesh, were on patrol duty near Handelu village early morning on Sunday, when they saw a car that was moving about in a suspicious manner. When the policemen signalled the car to stop, the car stopped a little distance away, and its driver and another person ran away from the spot. The policemen, who opened the doors of the car, found seven heads of cattle dumped there, duly tying up their feet together with ropes. For accommodating these animals, the rear seat of the car had been removed.
The cattle and vehicle, worth about Rs 2.66 lac, were confiscated. The policemen said that the car belongs to Abubakker from Tokkottu. A case in this connection was registered at the local police station.
