Mangalore: Ramanath Rai Denounces Arrest of Congress Activists

Mangalore, May 23: Dakshina Kannada district Congress president and MLA, B Ramanath Rai, condemned the police action in arresting the Congress activists, who had waved black flags during the visit of state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, to the city. He said that the Congressmen were justified in holding the said protest, as the Chief Minister has been trying to destabilize law and order machinery in the state in the name of popular movement against Governor’s actions.

Addressing a press conference in the city on Sunday May 22, he urged the union government to give its nod to the Governor’s recommendation for clamping President’s rule in the state.

Congress leaders, U T Khader, Vijayakumar Shetty, Ivan D’Souza, P V Mohan, Shashidhar Hegde, and T K Sudhir were present at the press conference.
