Bantwal, Dec 14: Three women, a child and a rickshaw driver were injured in a collision between a tipper lorry and an autorickshaw at Modankap near B C Road on Wednesday, December 14 afternoon. An elderly lady among them suffered critical injuries while two other women, the auto driver and a child escaped with minor injuries.
The rickshaw was being driven by Ashraf along with the passengers from Kaikamba to Modankap. Meanwhile, in an attempt to overtake a bus, the tipper lorry that was arriving from Modankap hit the rickshaw approaching from the opposite direction and the roadside light pole.
The rickshaw was mangled in the impact and 70-year-old lady Avvamma in the rickshaw was critically injured. Her relatives including a six-year-old child, two other women and the rickshaw driver suffered injuries. Melkar traffic police visited the spot and conducted an inquest.
