Mangalore: Teenager Perishes as Scooter Hits Electric Pole

Mangalore, May 23: A teenager, who was riding a new scooter for trial, died on Sunday May 22, after the two-wheeler hit an electric pole. Pawan Kumar (17), a resident of Shivanagar, Kavoor here, and was to attend second PU class in Canara PU College in the seat after passing the first PU examination, succumbed to the injuries sustained in the said accident, which occurred near his home.

Pawan had taken a new scooter bought by one of his friends, for trial run. He lost control over the vehicle during the ride and hit a roadside electric pole. He suffered severe injuries to his head and chest, and lost his life on way to hospital, policemen said.

A case has been registered in Kavoor police station in this connection. Investigation has been taken up.

    Sampath - it is not only that. Some people think there is no need for a helmet short distance. In this case I feel he must have accelerated the bike and lost control to hit the pole. What a sad tale and young life lost.

    One cant understand why do the parents who call themselves as the law abiding people give their children such vehicles to ride even before they attain the 18 years of age ( which is a must as per the M V Act).
