Mangalore: Sporadic Rain in District, Gale Inflicts Losses

Mangalore, May 23: Sporadic showers were experienced in parts of the twin-districts on Sunday May 22 evening. The rainfall was scant except for some areas in Sullia taluk.

After a large tree located in a plantation in Kollamogra village near Subrahmanya was razed to the ground on Saturday evening due to strong wind and rain, the plantation suffered losses. A number of areca nut and banana trees got uprooted in the incident. Some trees in a plantation located in Hariharapallatadka village near Subrahmanya also fell to the ground.

Barring the above, the coastal belt of Karnataka went without any rain, and the climate remained hot and humid
