Mangaluru, Dec 14: Three men, claiming to be the rightful owner of the currency notes that were found near Pumpwell stand, have reported to the police till now, informed police commissioner N Shashi Kumar.
He also said that through the three have claimed the money to be theirs, none among them have provided any evidence to prove the same.
It may be recalled, local residents Shivaraj and Tukaram found bundle of notes near Pumpwell bus stand on November 26. They shared the money between them. Later, public who saw the bundle of notes in the shirt pocket of Shivaraj, informed the police.
Police took Shivaraj into custody and recovered Rs 49,000. After some days, when the matter was reported in media Tukaram returned Rs 2.99 lac that was with him to the police station through his family members. But the source of money was not traced and also the total amount was not confirmed.
Police claimed that they got only Rs 49,000 while Shivaraj said that there were Rs 10 lac.
