Karwar, May 22: The Jesuit Brothers of Karnataka Jesuit Province began their annual meet ‘Sahodaya’, at Loyola School, Mundgod. The five-day meet which began on Thursday May 19, will conclude on Tuesday May 24. Jesuit brothers from all over Karnataka gather every year to discuss and analyze means and ways to adapt their service to God’s people in the state.
As this year is dedicated to the youth, the theme of this year’s meet is ‘The Youth at the Cross Roads of Life’. Fr Arun Lewis, director, Social Work Centre, Mundgod, inaugurated the event. Fr Johnson, principal, Loyola College, Mundgod, gave the welcome address.
This meet will consist of sessions focusing on the youth and their problems. The different themes are ‘The Changing Situations of Youth and the Role of Educational Institutions’ by Fr Vijay Mendith, ‘The Unorganized Youth and Our Ministry’ by Fr Franklin D’Souza, secretary, Karnataka Regional Youth Commission, ‘Jesuits and the Youth’ by Fr Rudolph Noronha, vice principal St Aloysius PU College, Mangalore, and ‘Ministry with the Youth and the Action Plan” by Fr Lawrence Fernandes, professor of philosophy, Satya Nilayam Jesuit Philosophy Centre, Chennai.
Fr Ivan Mendonca, co-ordinator for formation of brothers, is instrumental in this venture. He thanked the Jesuits of Mundgod for providing the necessary facilities. Br Santhosh Fernandes, co-ordinator, Sahodaya, welcomed the gathering and invited all to take an active part in this meet. Bro Rayappa compered the inaugural programme.
