Mangalore, May 21: In an operation guided by Panambur assistant commissioner of police, Puttamadaiah, and executed by police sub-inspector, Prakash and other police personnel, nine persons, who allegedly were planning to kill Paddu alias Padmaraj at Empire Mall on M G Road here, were arrested on Friday May 20. An auto rickshaw, a motor bike, and lethal weapons found in their possession, were confiscated.
The arrested persons are, Ashraf alias Appu (25) from Adyar, Tallat (25), Naufal (20), and Ayub K B (26) from Faisal Nagar, Vijay (25) from Monkey Stand in the city, Yogish (28), Somanath (24) and Shankar Amin from Karkala, and Vishwanath Shetty (28) from Udupi.
Reportedly, Padmaraj and Harish Shetty, who have security agency offices at Empire Mall, had professional rivalry between them. The enmity had aggravated over the years. Nine persons, who are said to be the associates of Harish Shetty, had drawn up a sketch to eliminate Padmaraj, it is learnt.
The policemen got wind of the conspiracy in advance. Main accused, Harish Shetty, is absconding.
