Bantwal: Ghastly Bus Accident Claims One More Life

Bantwal, May 20: In yet another ghastly road mishap, a man travelling in a KSRTC bus lost his life, the impact of the accident being such that the skull was separated from the body of the deceased.

The accident occured at Bollukallu here on Friday May 20 at around 5.15 pm. The bus was plying from Bangalore to Kundapur when it rammed against a tree by the roadside. Owing to the force of the impact, a passenger seated next to the window on the fourth row had his head smashed and the skull separated from the body resulting in instantaneous death.

The deceased has been identified as forty-year-old Prakash, a resident of Peenya, Jalahalli Cross, Bangalore. Prakash was employed as a teacher at Kanakapura Government Primary School.  He was on a pilgrimage to temples in Dakshina Kannada district along with his wife, a seven-year-old daughter, an aunt and brother-in-law. The family is in deep shock over the horrific accident that took away the life of their bread winner.

"The bus driver was drowsy, which caused the ghastly accident,’ said the co-passengers. The driver, Subhash Shetty however had a different version, "I tried to avoid collision with an oncoming truck, which resulted in the tragedy,’ he said.

Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.
