Udupi, Dec 2: Kasturba hospital, Manipal has been awarded with the Economic Times - Hospital Awards for Best Hospital – Orthopedic (South) 2022. The Economic Times 2nd edition of the 'Healthcare Awards' is instituted to recognize, acknowledge and cement the ground-breaking contributions of the leaders and movers from each of the areas of the healthcare sector.

From providing remarkable turnarounds in diagnostics and tests to facilitating treatments of patients privately with the most advanced healthcare, upto providing each healthcare facility with coming-of-age infrastructure and technology that enables seamless patient recovery-each contributor will be recognized for their efforts and innovations, based on a set of parameters, at the Economic Times Healthcare Awards 2022. 

Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor of MAHE, Manipal handed over the award to Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Dr Anand Venugopal, COO. teaching hospitals, MAHE and Dr Shyamsundar Bhat, HoD Orthopaedics, C G Muthanna, COO, MAHE, Dr Sharath K Rao, dean, KMC Manipal, all the unit heads of the Orthopaedics department and other management staff from hospital were present.

On the occasion Dr H S Ballal, said, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal always tries to give the best to society by identifying the best talent and developing them to be the better. The example for that is the department of orthopaedics, which is very well-known across India since 1990. The department has created sub-specialisation and each unit has specialized in treating, spine, shoulder, knee, hand, Paediatric ortho, sports injury, sports and ankle etc., he added.

Dr Sharath K Rao, dean and orthopaedic surgeon said, "It’s an achievement for the Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and department of orthopaedics to receive such a prestigious award from Economic Times. This makes us  more responsible and deliver the best to the society."
