Byndoor, Dec 1: Byndoor Gandhi Maidan Samrakshana Samithi convenor Subramanya Bijoor has called for relocating the proposed construction of the Town Hall at the Gandhi Maidan.

He told reporters here that the playground is meant to be used by students of the pre-university college as per conditional nod given by the former deputy commissioner.

He said Gandhi Maidan is the only playground that exists in the heart of the town adding that no efforts should be encouraged to destroy it.

Girish Byndoor of the Samithi said in the name of development if this playground is encroached there is no room to open another playground in the town.

He said people of all ages need a playground and if the ground is small then it would not be possible to train and produce good sportsman.

"We have great respect for and pride about litterateur Mogeri Gopalakrishna Adiga. But, it is not fair to use a playground to build a town hall," he said.

Shivaraj Yojananagara of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi, Raghavendra Paduvari of Samithi and Mangesh Shanbogue among others were present.
