The policemen had on Tuesday 18, moved an application through assistant superintendent of police, Dr Rohini Katoch, seeking his police custody for interrogation purposes. Although the policemen were expected to produce Dr Prasad in the court, his lawyer, P P Hegde came to the court in his absence and presented arguments against the application made by the policemen.

After hearing the advocate for the accused and also assistant public prosecutor, C Tammanna, the court remanded Dr Renuka Prasad to two days’ police custody.

Dr Katoch, who was present at the court at the time of the hearing, said that advocate from Madikeri, Nagesh Kumar, who has succeeded in securing anticipatory bail,  is obliged to cooperate with the investigations. She said that the policemen will conduct an in-depth investigation about his role in the murder case. She expressed the hope that the arrest of Vaman from Polali, an accused in the case who has gone missing, will be a key factor in throwing more light on the role played by the advocate in the case.
