Mangalore: Strong Wind, Lightning, Rain Inflict Damages

Mangalore, May 19: Udupi, Brahmavar, Kota, Kundapur, Shankarnarayana, Byndoor and many other places in Udupi district received heavy rain on Wednesday May 18 morning.  Karkala taluk experienced lightning without any rain. The walls, electrical wiring, television set, windows etc., in the house of Sundar Poojary at Ontibettu in Anjar village near Hiriyadka suffered extensive damages due to lightning.


A number of houses were damaged due to lightning on Tuesday night at Uppala Adika in Kasargod district. Three residents of a house were injured. Fallen trees also damaged a number of sheds and houses. Half-completed road works at many places made thick muddy water to flow through the roads. Power disruption has been a common feature in places which experienced rain. 


The climate remains cloudy in the coast since Wednesday evening, and there are indications more rains later in the day.
