Sullia: Mother Commits Suicide in Kid’s Presence

Sullia, May 18: Chitra (27), wife of Kusumadhar from Kukkujadka in the taluk, committed suicide by hanging herself on Monday May 16 evening. No one was at home at the time, except the deceased’s year-old child.

Chitra, whose husband runs a fancy centre, was playing with her younger child, who is about an year old. Her elder kid was away at the time. A woman who visits her home to sell milk, saw what had happened, and alerted the neighbours. The younger child’s birthday was to be celebrated on Tuesday, and the marriage of Chitra’s younger sister was to be solemnized during the end of this week.

The family members said that she suffered from depression often, and suspected that she committed suicide during a bout of depression. The local policemen have registered a case.
