Mangaluru: St Agnes College holds self defence workshop

Mangaluru, Nov 27: Entrepreneurship Development Forum (EDF) in association with Women's Cell and Rangers and Traffic Warden Squard organised a workshop on "Self Defence" on November 26 at St Agnes College (Autonomous) in the Old Auditorium at 12 noon.

Arjun Shetty who is an authorised self defence trainer at Combat Tactical System and Prajna J Shetty, WAKO International Kickboxing refree were the resource persons for the workshop. 
They were assisted by Vidya and Prerana.

The workshop began with a prayer song led by Michelle Kinara D'Souza, member of EDF.

Dr Devi Prabha Alva, convenor, EDF welcomed the gathering. Lawren Maria Castelino, convenor, Rangers and Traffic Warden Squard, Blairil Vishma D'Cunha, convenor, women's cell, Nebisha Muneesha, secretary EDF, Firdoz Banu, secretary, Rangers and Traffic Warden Squard, Jenal Weona Pereira, secretary, women's cell were present for the inaugural.

The members of all the three associations were present for the workshop. All of them took active part in the session. The resource persons gave many insights on self defence. They also explained various methods of self defence and gave a brief description on how to protect oneself in times of danger.

The resource persons gave a practical demonstration of the attack and counter attack tactics. This enabled the students to understand self defence in a better way. The students tried to practically implement the tactics taught by the trainers.

 

 

A few students shared their feedback on the session and exclaimed about the effectiveness of the session. Blairil Vishma D'Cunha, convenor women's cell proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr Devi Prabha Alva convenor EDF handed over the token of gratitude to the resource persons.
Overall it was a good interactive and informative session.
