Mangalore: Krishnaraj Hegde Becomes APMC President Again

Mangalore, May 17: K Krishnaraj Hegde of the JDS has been re-elected as the president of Mangalore Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Prashant Gatti from the BJP has been elected as the vice president.

The taluk APMC has seven Congress members, four from the BJP, three from the JDS, and three nominated members supporting the BJP. JDS therefore, plays the role of king maker here.

BJP and JDS have entered into an understanding in the local APMC. In the election, Krishnaraj Hegde got ten votes as against seven secured by Yekkar Monappa Shetty from the Congress. In the vice presidential election, Gatti mustered ten votes, while Jayasheela Adyantaya of the Congress could get only six votes.
