Moodbidri, May 17: The body of a lady, who had completed her diploma course in industrial training institute and working for a private concern, was found lying in a deserted area on the night of Monday May 16. Police suspect this to be a case of murder.
Malati (20), daughter of Veerappa Moolya from Malebttu near Padukonaje, was found lying lifeless under mysterious circumstances. The lady, working for a concern in Beluvai near here, used to commute to her work place from her home at Houdalu on Naravi Road, some distance away from the town. She had to traverse through a road located in the forest region, which sees scant movement.
Malati, who usually reaches home by 6 pm, was not to be seen till around 7 pm on Monday. The family members, concerned about the fact that the lady will have to walk through a deserted stretch of the road in the dark, went searching for her. They found her body by the side of bushes on this road. After this information was conveyed, the local policemen rushed to the spot and conducted inspection.
It is said that a youth followed the lady when she was going home on Monday evening. Harish, whom Malati knew well, has been taken into custody for questioning. A case has been registered in the police station here, and investigation has been taken up.
