Bantwal, May 17: BJP candidates Ronald D’Souza and Krishnappa were elected president and vice-president respectively, of the taluk Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) in the elections held here on Monday May 16.
Electioneering officer Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak announced the results as no nomination papers were submitted by Congress candidates.
D’Souza is a resident of Amtady village and an electrical diploma holder. He is serving as chief secretary of the Dakshina Kannada district BJP minority wing.
Krishnappa is the president of Shamboor self-help-groups federation under Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP).
Coastal Development Authority president B Nagaraj Shetty, state Bala Bhavan Society president Sulochan Bhat, APMC past president Sankappa Gowda, BJP local leaders Chennappa Kotian, Ramdas, Kodman Shantappa Shetty, Ravindra Kambli, G Anand, and Janardhan Bondala congratulated the new office-bearers.
