Mangalore: Cong Flays MCC's Decision to Hike Property Tax

Mangalore, May 16: The Dakshina Kannada district Congress staged a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office here on Monday May 16 against the hike in property tax as per Self Assessment Scheme introduced by the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).

Addressing protestors, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Congress leader criticized the BJP’s move to increase property tax by 15%. He alleged that though MCC commissioner had the power to stop tax hike, he did not take any step in this regard.

Ramanath Rai, Bantwal MLA came down heavily on the highhanded behaviour of the MCC machinaries and called on the state government to withdraw SAS.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary Ivan D’Souza among others was present.
