Bangalore, May 16 (IANS) Karnataka's Bharatiya Janata Party government, struggling to ward off its possible dismissal, Monday decided to convene the state assembly's session from June 2.
"The cabinet decided to hold assembly session for 10 days from June 2 and the governor has been intimated," Law Minister S. Suresh Kumar told reporters here.
The B.S. Yeddyurappa government May 13 decided to hold the session from Monday, soon after the Supreme Court restored the membership of 16 rebels, 11 of the BJP and five Independents.
However, Governor H.R. Bhardwaj did not agree to it and instead late Sunday sent a "special report" to the central government recommending dismissal of the Yeddyurappa government, direct central rule in the state and keeping the assembly in suspended animation.
