Bangalore, May 16 (PTI) Stepping up the offensive, BJP in Karnataka today said it would launch an agitation against Governor H R Bhardwaj for recommending President's Rule in the State even as it sought his recall.
"Governor Hatao, State Bachao andolan will commence today itself," Party spokesman C T Ravi said.
Senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu charged the Governor with "trying to rule the State through backgate".
He said BJP would not allow the Governor to "topple" the party's Government in the state and accused Bhardwaj of trying to "murder democracy".
The Centre should not accept the Governor's recommendation, he told reporters here.
The BJP was ready to prove the majority of its government, "whether it's here or in New Delhi," Naidu said, and demanded Bhardwaj's recall.
