Kundapur: Udupi Dist Literary Meet on May 17, 18

Kundapur, May 16: The seventh district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan-2011 will be held at Government Pre-university College, Kundapur on Tuesday May 17 and Wednesday May 18.

Litterateur and advocate A S N Hebbar will head the sammelan. The inaugural function will witness attendance of higher education minister and district in-charge Dr V S Acharya, Legislative Council chairman D H Shankarmurthy, Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes and Udupi-Chikmagalur MP D V Sadananda Gowda.

A book exhibition will also be held as part of the sammelan and it will be inaugurated by GPU College principal Subramanya Joshi.

As many as five ghostis will be held which includes ‘Bhashe-Shikshana-Vicharamanthana,’ ‘Kavisamaya-Sarsamaya,’ ‘E Samaya Hasyamaya,’ ‘Sahitya Vichara’ and ‘Madhyama Ghoshti’.

Sessions Galore

Talks will be held on ‘Kundapura Kannada,’ ‘Challenges of higher education,’ ‘Interest and stance of contemporary education,’ ‘Challenges and solutions for teaching literature in the primary stage and ‘Udupi district literature for decade among other topics.

Persons who contributed immensely to the field of literature, history, media, art, science, theatre and society will also be felicitated on the occasion.
