Karkala, May 15: An accident wherein two boys died as a result of being hit by the bus has been reported at Hosmar here on Saturday May 14 at around 8.30 pm. The identification of the boys aged between 13 and 15 is not yet known.
While one died on the spot, the other died on the way to hospital. The boy was being shifted to Wenlock District Hospital in Mangalore. The dead body of one of the boys has been kept at the Karkala mortuary, while the other is at the Wenlock Hospital.
Sudeesh (12), who was critically injured in the accident is being treated at the Wenlock Hospital and is out of danger. He is the son of Subba-Gopi couple from Ramettapady, Naravi and student of std VII.
The dead boys and Sudeesh were unknown to each other and that Sudeesh had gone from home at around 5.00 pm without informing the wards, said Sunil, Sudeesh's brother.
The accident occurred when the bus plying from Hosmar to Naravi hit the boys walking on the road side near Hosmar panchayat office, witnesses informed. However, the bus driver has informed that the boys were on the footboard of the bus and died due to fall.
A case has been registered at the karkala rural police station.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that the driver was in an inebriated state and that was even thrashed by the public.
